I have been tagged by Only Sometimes Clever. I am suppose to tell seven random things about myself. Well this should be easy, but it will probably be hard.
1. I am not computer savvy at all. I tried several times how to put that cute little tag thing at the top of this post and can't figure it out. Whenever I see something cool on someone else's blog I have to beg them for help.
2. I LOVE to throw things away. Ask my friends. I horrify one of my friends. She just knows I will need it one day. So far that has never happened. De-junking seems to clear my mind and I feel more organized. I have even cleaned out the shed and that scared my husband.
3. I started out pro-hospital, pro-doctor, pro-drugs. I never questioned a doctor either. Then I saw a friend (and grandfather) die at the hands of doctors and health professionals that didn't care. I have started questioning everything and have never looked back. I seriously laughed at people that used midwives and had natural deliveries. I probably owe them an apology.
4. I also wanted 12 kids when we first were married. Then after a pregnancy full of puking I changed my mind. I had no idea that trying to raise them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord would be so hard on my heart. So that is why we have half that amount. OK so honestly it is health issues that have caused us to reconsider, but I still think that lots of children are the way to go, if that is what God has in store for you.
5. I had only cooked 2 things when we were married. A pumpkin bread that I forgot to put the flour in and cornbread that I put baking soda in instead of baking powder. It tasted awful! Then I made gravy with sweetened condensed milk instead of canned milk (that the recipe called for) and we had company that didn't even comment on how awful it was. I have learned a lot since then.
6. I love to read. It is a good thing that the library is free (provided I get things back on time) or I would be in some serious trouble. I even read the back of hairspray cans and such. I will read just about anything, although these days I try to be far more careful about what I read.
7. I love reading about other people's lives. Hence the reason I read some many blogs. It is nice to see that other people have the same problems, goals, or thoughts that I do. Or at least they pretend too.
I need to tag some people so I tag the following: Mrs Troop- I would love to learn some random things about you: Ramblings and Randomness-the title inspires randomness: My SIL - she is definitely quirky but in a fun good way: and last but not least LIFE-she has hippy-ness written all over her and she ought to have some awesome random things about her.

My husband rocks
Hey I am getting to this early today. Yeah!
My husband rocks because he got to the honey-do list!!! He even did things that weren't on it!
Last weekend he installed a bi-fold door at the bottom of our stairs to cut off the stairwell from the rest of the house, to hopefully keep the heat and air downstairs better. The upstairs has it's own. Then he put a new door handle in the girl's door. For those of you who have been over you know how frustrating this was. If the door was shut completely then you had to ram it with your shoulder to get it open because the latch would stick. Then he fixed the door on the pantry. The kids had tried to shut it on something, when hiding in there, and then yanked it open and ripped the top set of hinges out of the wall.
It was so nice to have all those things done and out of the way. Especially before the baby comes. We still have a couple of things left, but they require a very tiny person to get under the house and at least 2 big people inside the house to move things. Hopefully that will be soon.
Thanks honey for fixing all those things!!!

Happy with the hospital
Yesterday I was at the hospital, where I will be having this baby, and had some free time. I thought that I would go up to the Maternity floor and take a peek. It just so happened that I caught a tour that had just started.
The first thing they showed us was the Labor and delivery room. It was HUGE!! I was so excited. We really wanted to bring the kids but was afraid that we would have a small room again. There is plenty of room for everyone, a dvd player, a big fold out bed and lots of room for them to move around. That was exciting.
Then she started asking us who our doctor was and if it was our first baby. When I mentioned a midwife she got excited. Then she proceeded to tell the tour that they have all kinds of things available to help moms through a drug-free delivery. They provide birthing balls, rocking chairs, a big shower, and a labor pool. She mentioned that I probably wouldn't be having an epidural because the midwives really advocate drug-free deliveries. She said they (the nurses) want to help the mother through labor without drugs if at all possible. Of course she added that it was your own personal choice. She also mentioned that recovery time for mothers with epidurals is a lot longer than mothers without drugs. I couldn't believe it. Here is a nurse in a mainstream hospital advocating drug-free deliveries. It was more than I could possibly hope for. Then she said they love having siblings and any other family members present that want to come. Oh that was the icing on the cake. With one child the nurses wanted the other kids out so we only brought Brown Bear last time.
The only down side was that after you deliver in this awesome room then you get moved to a closet. Seriously it is the smallest room I have ever seen. But oh well. I really couldn't be happier about what I was hearing.

Homemade With Love
I found this at Life As Mom. It is so awesome! Go to Homemade With Love and check out all the cool things that she has listed. Some ideas are so cool.
The platter one got my brain to going. We always make baskets of homemade goodies, so this year we can decorate mugs or platters or bowls and then fill them with the yummy stuff. Oh I am so excited about this and we can get started it on it soon so we won't be rushed at the end.
There are several other ideas linked at the bottom of her page so be sure and check those out too!

My pyramid
I went to a play time at the library last week and their resource person of the week was a nutritionist. She had lots of good information, but there was one that the zookeeper really enjoyed.
It is my pyramid. It is the food pyramid only now you can personalize, chart out menus and see how they stack up, and see how it fills each category. The zookeeper was very surprised at some of the choices he had made and where exactly they fell on the pyramid. Several fell in the sugars, fats, and bad choices one. It does (or at least it is suppose to anyway) track the healthy vs. the non-healthy fats too. The meat one filed up quickly too because he loves to snack on pecans from our pecan trees. The meat one includes all forms of protein basically.
Try it you might like it. It is very similar to the Weight Watchers site that we were paying for. The only thing it doesn't do is let you put in recipes and figure out the calories, etc. which the WW did. But for free I am OK with that.
On a little side note (I am good at those aren't I) check out the Crockpot site for a little brochure on what different things cost to run in your home. I nearly fell out of my chair when I realized that most of our electricity goes to our hot water tank. It is $30+ a month for a family of four to use. I guess we can double that. That is over half of our bill. Also the crockpot doesn't use that much so that solidifies my love the wonderful, awesome slow cooker. Please do me a favor and use yours more and let me know how you used it. That way I won't need to keep harping about it!

My dad surprised me
As I mentioned I went out to my parents today to do sewing. I took Lioness and Lion Cub. It was so nice to only have 2 kids to keep track of. Actually Lion Cub hung out with my brother and dad as they mowed grass and finished winterizing the house. He even went to Wal-Mart with them.
Anyway while we were eating lunch, I mentioned that another one of my crock-pots went kapoot. Bear in mind that most of mine are garage sales specials and if I get a couple of years out of them then I am happy. He asked if I had any left. I said one, but we use them so much it is nice to have 2 or 3.
When they came back from Wal-Mart he brought me something into the sewing room. It was a brand-new crock-pot. It was even the Crock-Pot brand. It was a 7-qt one with the Little Dipper with it. The one that had my eye on for awhile. I couldn't quite bring myself to buy one. It was such a nice surprise!
He even wanted to get a diaper pail for us too but then found out that Wal-Mart doesn't carry one anymore. It was so sweet that he even went to that trouble for me. What a nice dad!!

Sewing till we drop
This morning I woke up at 9 a.m. It would have been so wonderful, except that I didn't hardly sleep all night. After a hayride and lots of other fun, we got home late and I felt like I was in a fog. I finally got up and took some Tylenol, about 4 a.m., and then was finally able to sleep. So I just caught up on some sleep. It was nice that the zookeeper tried to keep the kids quiet until I got up.
So I went ahead and went out to my mom's to do some more sewing for the baby. We got so much done. It rocked! Lioness did a whole lot of sewing while I did a whole lot of cutting. My mom also did a lot of sewing.
We made 6 pairs of nursing pads, 4 soakers, 4 more diapers, 12 cover cut out, some prefolds ready to sew, and 18 more wipes hemmed. It was nice to get so much done today. I felt a little more prepared. We looked at diaper patterns until we were tired of them. Then choose one we liked and just stuck with it. We also went through some stuff my mom was going to give to Goodwill and found she had some very usable stuff for the baby. She had a nice set of sheets that she didn't want anymore that we are going to make crib sheets out of. She also had several t-shirts to make nursing pads and soakers out of. So I felt like generations past getting ready for babies by using and re-using things already on hand. It was kinda exhilarating!
We are planning at least one more major sewing day before the holidays hit. Once they are here then I won't have as much time. Once they are over then I will only have 3 weeks to finish getting everything ready. OH that will be so nice. I can't wait to meet this new little one!

My husband rocks
It's Friday again so another episode of MHR!
I hope this one won't embarrass him. He talks to the babies while they are still in the womb. He counts them as part of the family already. When people ask how many we have he says 6. He tells the kids that she is already a living life that deserves all the freedoms and protections that anyone else deserves.
He also plays them, while they are still gestating, music. LOTS of music. He loves music so he wants them to develop a love for it before they are even on the outside. As a result all of our kids also love all kinds of music. From Joe Satriani to the mamas and the papas and everything in between (except the hard, metal, and acid rock thank goodness!).
I love that about him!

Friends
We had this family over Wednesday night for dinner. We had these grand plans of grilled hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans, and cookies. I also didn't look at the weather and planned on the kids using the picnic table outside. We only have a small table inside.
The day became very cold and rainy. We went to start the burgers and found out that we didn't have any propane (how is that possible with 2 canisters). So we turned to Plan B. You need to realize this family is large. We had them bring a card table and fed the kids in shifts. By the time we sat down the rest of them were done. Oh and we cooked the hamburgers in the oven and on the stove-top griddle. 20 of them and it didn't take too long.
So what do you get when have 13 kids, 4 adults and a cat in a 1100 sq feet. Happy chaos! It didn't bother the kids one bit to all be crowded in a small space together. The house didn't fall apart and after they left, it only took us about 10 minutes to clean up. How is that for an awesome dinner party!

Book Review and other random thoughts
So I found another cookbook that I really like. It is called The Dinner Fix. She has menus already laid out for you for 19 weeks. She also lays out, in a very logical order, how to get your meal ready in less than 30 minutes. Some are kinda expensive, but some look so yummy that I am going to try them for a change of pace. She also tried all these recipes out on like 140 families and gave the recipes ratings based on their reviews. We are going to try out the ginger beef and Thai chicken wraps in the next week or so.
For those of you who don't check out Money Saving Mom you need to start doing so. It will notify you of such wonderful little things like this promo at Taco Bell for free tacos. We plan on going and see what kinda looks we get. Also I just received my free pouch of Betty Crocker potato sides in the mail yesterday. It was a full size bag. While it won't feed my family, I can mix it in a potato soup. For some families it will be enough. She has the run-down on CVS and Walgreens ( which I have had tremendous success with recently) and Wal-Mart. She seems to find all the sites for printable coupons and rebates to make things almost free.
As I open my browser each morning and it is more bad news, I thought that this might help cheer some up on ways to save our hard-earned money.

Another Fun Day
The weekend seemed so long this time. Usually it seems to speed by and I can't even remember what we did, let along enjoy it. But this one was just long. I think it was because I spent most of it at home working on things while the zookeeper borrowed a trailer to get wood pellets for our stove for the winter. He ended up taking about 6 hours total to get them, unload them, and take the trailer and truck back.
Sunday was just a lazy kinda day too. Zookeeper wanted me to watch the new Robinson Crusoe show, but I kept falling asleep and he finally just gave up.
Yesterday, however, we went to Tulsa and hung out with our friends. I had to pick up Lioness from them anyway so we decided to make a day of it. We had a nice time. As always she had something creative for them to do. She had all kinds of decorating stuff for caramel apples. Decorating is her forte, but especially anything that has to do with food. She had all kinds of colored sugar and sprinkles, Reese's' pieces, and mini chocolate chips. She also melted white and dark chocolate and put them in bottles for the kids to drizzle on their apples. The kids loved it and really enjoyed eating them. She even went back to the store and bought more caramel and apples so they could make another one to take home with them. What a friend!!!
Now I am going to post some pictures so you can see how cute (and sugary) the apples turned out. NOT!! I forgot the camera. So I didn't get one single picture. I was a little perturbed when I remembered but seeing as how it is about 190 miles from us, coming back for it wasn't an option. Some of them had so much piled on it that you couldn't even see the handle. But they were so yummy. I was eating mine, and thoroughly enjoying it, when my friend started laughing at me. I had chocolate and caramel all over my face from the apple. I looked just like the kids. Oh well!
The boys and monkey all had several games of seek and destroy with the air soft guns. Only a couple of causalities. Monkey got shot in the lip and Brown Bear in the ear. No blood, so no problem. Monkey also helped one of the boys put rocks in their flower garden. Yes the rocks were suppose to be there. She likes doing stuff like that.
It was a nice day. We made it home just before it was pitch black. I don't particularly like driving on the turnpike at night. Then we all crashed with sugar lows. What a sweet day!

My husband rocks
I totally forgot today was Friday. We left early and just now got home and it just occurred to me.
So this week is because he is sooooo patient. He is far more patient with the kids when disciplining them. I am a let's just understand that you are standing in that corner until doomsday. He is let me talk to you about the heart issue that goes with this problem and reasons from the Bible on why it is wrong.
He is also more patient about reading books. They can usually get him to read the long ones. The ones that no one else will read to them. He patiently explains things when they don't understand.
One more thing. He is helping Brown Bear put together his model. I am suppose to post pictures of this each Thursday after they have worked on it. I forgot, but they worked on it for a long time last night. All those little pieces and details need a patient person. One that loves the details. That completely balances me out.

My current stack of books
The littles (and Monkey, she doesn't like me to include her in that statement) and I visit the library just about every single week, while the 2 oldest are in band. We LOVE the library. It is good, cheap fun. We alternate between the big one a little further away and the small one right by our house. If the one downtown had free parking we would be there every.single. day! But at $5 a whack to park it discourages us a little.
Anyway we always check out about 60 books and yes most of them get read. Mostly at night or when they are fighting or bored. But they usually do get read. Most of them are for the kids, but I manage to sneak in about 20 and then make them carry it all to the car, while I clutch my stomach and mumble something about pregnant ladies carrying books and pre-term labor.
This last time we went to the bigger library and I went straight to the gardening section. Oh it made my head hurt and then my eyes cross from trying to read the titles of about 100 gardening books and trying to figure out which one was really the best. So I grabbed about 15. That should cover it right? I picked up some on composting, mulching, organic gardening and chemical gardening. We are really excited about trying to have a bigger garden next year. Our small one was so nice this year. Plus growing our own stuff helps keep cost down and gives me something to make the kids do when they are fighting, again. Weeding builds character.
The zookeeper has been reading them too. He is actually the one that wants to garden. So what happens is he sets the plan in motion and then we carry it out and then he eats it. I think we will make him help more this year.
Then I wondered on over to the cooking aisle. I figured if we are going to have all this hypothetical food, I should find some books on how to cook it and preserve it and not let it rot. Then of course I need one on chocolate desserts and how to make the dough for jelly doughnuts in a bread machine. It helped balance out the healthy stuff. But what I really wanted to mention is a book that seemed kinda out of place with the others, but looked shiny and caught my eye, was a book on frugal meals. I had actually just looked through one that a friend recommended and wasn't that impressed with it. It was called The Frugal Something (I can't remember OK!). This one is called The Everything Meals on a Budget Cookbook. It was actually good. It had several recipes in there for cook once serve twice type stuff. So cook a whole chicken in the crock pot and then have chicken linguine or chicken and sausage stir-fry the next night. I would say if your library has it, take a look. It might help use up those last few carrots that a getting kinda limp in the bottom of your crisper drawer.
So what are you guys reading?

I had actually just looked through one that a friend recommended and wasn't that impressed with it. It was called The Frugal Something (I can't remember OK!). This one is called The Everything Meals on a Budget Cookbook. It was actually good. It had several recipes in there for cook once serve twice type stuff. So cook a whole chicken in the crock pot and then have chicken linguine or chicken and sausage stir-fry the next night. I would say if your library has it, take a look. It might help use up those last few carrots that a getting kinda limp in the bottom of your crisper drawer.
So what are you guys reading?
Father/Son camp
The reason I received donuts the other day was because the zookeeper and brown bear were going out of town for the weekend. So the zookeeper decided to go ahead and take the whole day off and hang out with us before they left.
It is a christian camp where they really promote bonds between parents and children and the family in general. They have all kinds of activities that encourage the parents and children to interact and not to simply drop them off at the activity and then go read a book or go to their car and listen to the OU/Texas game (which apparently some did anyway!).
They had a blast and are already looking forward to next year. I would love to take the girls to the mother/daughter one in April of next year, but the baby would be so tiny still. And the money situation may not allow it either.
So they stayed in a 2-story cabin, that they shared with 4 other sets of father/sons. The zookeeper said they really enjoyed one of the sets in particular and the boy was a perfect match for Brown Bear so they played together nearly the entire time.
The activities they chose were rock climbing, cane-pole fishing, and riflery. Brown Bear was very excited about using the 12 gauge. He loved the rock wall and did it 4 times. Apparently the zookeeper never actually made it all the way up. But Brown Bear did.
The activities that they could have chosen were zipline (400 ft gradual descent), jacob's ladder, some kind of thing were you climb this telephone pole and then jump off of the top, and then a swing thing where the other team pulls you up (up to 40ft high) and then lets you drop and swing. All those sound perfectly fine to skip to me.
So that is the really good reason that our plans changed that day. No it wasn't twins Mrs. C.! Good guess though! I was a little worried about posting that he was gone until he came back.
Once again I can't get the pictures uploaded. I am sure it has something to do with this lousy Internet connection. I will probably need to wait until I go to the library again to upload them. YUCK!!

Pictures and a correction
OK so I totally forgot about my friend at LIFE. I know her in IRL too. I don't know how I forgot. She has some adorable kids, especially the baby. He is so cute!
We are having to use the internet at the library so if the posts are few and far between that is why. At least until we figure out what is wrong with this stupid computer. It won't pick up our internet at our house, but will at the library.
Can you see the pockets on the inside of the bag. I thought, between the 2 of us, we did a fair job. There are a few little things that make it definitely not professional, but all in all it turned out cute.
I hope to get to post comments on your blogs soon. But not today.

I actually sewed something
Lioness and I have been bit by the sewing bug. We have sewed several thins recently, but the thing that we are proudest of is the new diaper bag for Koala. I can hardly wait to pack it full of baby gear and strut around with it. Yeah I might be doing it tomorrow.
Another thing that Lioness has been working on are bibs for the kids to paint for Koala upon her arrival. She has cut them out, sewed them together, top stitched for a professional look, and sewed on the ribbons all by herself. She has already made a quilt for Lion Cub so this has given her further inspiration to sew.
Her great-grandma informed her that she would be giving her the sewing machine that she had when she still had kids at home. Translation: it is old but runs very well and has a fully stocked sewing table with it. She is beyond excited. That makes Christmas easy for her. Lots of sewing stuff and material and patterns. Probably some bling stuff too. After all that is what the dreams of little girls are made of. A little sparkle like a diamond. She has already fixed a spot for it in her room and is eagerly anticipating it's arrival. She said finally will be able to sew whenever she wants and not have to wait for me. The only table we have to sew at right now is the dining room table and that isn't always convenient.
Here are some pictures of the diaper bag and the bibs. We also made several cloth diapers and wipes over the weekend but I didn't take any pictures of those, because we just didn't.
Blogger won't let me load pictures so I will do it later. Sorry!

Some new blogs added
I finally have another IRL that has a blog. That brings the total to 3. Obviously most of my IRL friends don't understand the addiction that is blogging.
Along with Mrs. Troop and The deHaan family, now I have Ramblings and Randomness. She is a fellow soccer mom and I have been asking her for about 6 months to get busy starting one. So exciting to read about someone else's life that I actually know.
And because the times are so unsettling right now I added Money Saving Mom back into the mix. She really has some great posts on how to save money at different places, free samples (which I have signed up for and received lots), and just some random articles on saving money and how to live on little. I have a feeling that we all will be feeling the pinch soon.
On an extremely random side note, a tip for large families. I hate making pancakes. They take forever and my kids eat them like they are starving. So I spend an hour making pancakes, even with a huge electric griddle. So I started mixing up the batter and pouring it into my greased bar pan ( I am sure that a 9x13 would work too. You might need 2.). It takes about 20 minutes and feeds them easily. While it is baking I can get dressed, make the bed, and get things picked up and ready for the day. I even got my bathroom cleaned today while we were waiting. So much better than wasting all that time flipping pancakes over a hot stove. This morning we added pumpkin and spices to make Pumpkin Spice pancakes. They were delish! (you were suppose to serve them with maple whipped cream but didn't have any so maple syrup worked.)

10 Day Give
I am participating in a 10 day give. You can go here to see more about it. I have several reasons why I am doing this, but the one that stands out most to me is because we should.
When I say we should what I mean is that it takes my mind off of the impending doom of the stock market. It encourages me to look around and see who might benefit from some giving, whether money, time, love, food, whatever. I want my kids to learn to trust God in this particular area. Lioness has already made some cookie dough to bake on Sunday so we can give cookies to our librarian. I suggested that they look around and see what else we can do to give of our time and energy. It teaches them to not be so self absorbed. And it focuses them on God's promises and charges straight from His Word.
I hope that you take time to look and possibly join the challenge. It is like random acts of kindness, only a little more deliberate. It would make someone's day to be thought of for whatever reason. Look around you and see where you could give!

I can't remember
Our Internet has been really unreliable lately. Sometimes we can get on, sometimes we can't. When we can get on it usually cuts off half way through me leaving a comment on some one's blog or right in the middle of a post. So I tried all afternoon to get on, because I wanted to post something really bad. Now that I am on I can't remember what in the world I wanted to post about.
So instead you get this long rambling post. Tonight we went to another football game. It was a lot of fun. We met up with the same family as before. But this time we also saw several other people that we knew. I enjoyed the atmosphere and watching the kids. Skittles and Cheetos make for a yummy looking combo that, when handed to a pregnant woman, half chewed makes me want to find another place to sit. :0) I think that they won again, but we ended up leaving in the 4th quarter because my backside couldn't take the hard bleachers anymore.
Tomorrow I am going to my mom's and we are sewing and sewing and sewing. I am taking everything that needs to be sewn, mended, or otherwise needs a seamstress to look at it. That includes the diaper bag. So if it turns out I will post a picture. We are about half-way done with it and it looks so cute! Lioness has been making bibs for the kids to decorate for the new baby. We went and picked out some ribbon so she could finish them up tomorrow.
My dad likes having the kids out, but if you know anything about where I am from is that we take football almost as seriously as Texas. (well not me but my extended family and lots of other crazies). Tomorrow is the BIG showdown with Texas and my dad has threatened limbs lost if the kids interrupt the game. I suggested they get TIVO so he can see it again if he misses it. No good if you have to see it later apparently. I am just kidding he would only chain them up if they make him miss an important play. (really just kidding). So we are taking bikes and other outdoor stuff. Their neighborhood is fairly quiet so it is perfect for them.
I am looking forward to it, just because my mom is such a big help with the sewing and taking care of the kids. It will be nice just to hang out and not have to do all the cooking, none of the cleaning, and some of the kid watching.
Oh guess what I just remembered what I wanted to blog about. I am participating in the 10-day give. I will make a separate post for it.

My husband rocks
I kinda try and think all week what I want to post on today. I have thought of so many that I probably should write them down. This pregnancy has sucked all the memory right out of me. So I thought that I knew what I would post on this morning. But then last minute plans changed and now I have to say he rocks because of this.
He is out buying me donuts!!! He has the day off today (for a really great reason that I will post on when it is over). So he took Monkey and even was going to Wal-Mart for me to get some things that I forgot for them. I LOVE donuts and he said he would bring some back. What a sweet man!!

Random thoughts
Tuesday we went to a Junior High football game. Fun! It was short and they won! The kids, of course didn't see any of the game. They were to busy running up and down the bleachers, sounding like a herd of elephants or playing their own game of football or walking around trying hard to look cool and important or eating all of my brownies!
I haven't been to a real live football game since Parrot was a little baby and our friend's daughter was crowned homecoming queen. I actually watched the game. But I didn't really understand all that was going on. OK so I don't understand any of the rules, but I love the atmosphere of sporting events. They are always so fun, except for maybe hockey and that is a whole nother story.
And did I mention that family we met there is trying to kill us with kindness. They sent home a awesome chocolate cheesecake with us. I think we might have a couple of pieces left. YUMMY!!
On a totally random note. Sometimes we let Parrot make a little pallet, out of cushions, on our floor by my side of the bed. (she isn't likely to get stepped on there). She always asks to hold my hand. She told me last night that it makes her feel braver and then she is isn't scared of the dark.
I told her that it makes me feel good too to hold her hand. (I just meant that it made me happy to hold her hand). She looked at me and then said that she would always protect me and so would God. I laid there for a long time after she went to sleep and thanked the Lord for such a precious little girl and the reminder that He is always with me. (If you look hard enough we are certain that you can see her angel wings).
One more funny for the day. We are roasting pumpkins for pumpkin puree. Lion Cub came down here and wanted to know when we were having lunch and I replied in just a minute. Then he lays his head down on my lap and starts crying and telling me he doesn't want to eat pumpkin shells for lunch. I laughed out loud. Of course he didn't think that was funny. I told him we were having leftovers. He jumped up and ran off, happy that he didn't have to eat pumpkin shells!

Just because and soccer
I forgot to post pictures from our outing last Tuesday. So just because I think they are so cute I am posting them as a random blip in this post.
Saturday was another soccer game. Oh the things that I could say about this game. I will just suffice it to say that the coach from the opposing team shouldn't also be the referee. ARGHHHH!!!! We got a few pictures of Monkey so I am sharing them with you because they are cute.

Wow
We go to this small church in our town for Awanas. We had attended there about 5 years for Awanas only. I really enjoy the teachers and the 2 fearless leaders.
Even though we aren't members we know most of the people there and they know we have a big family. In fact, except for possibly the older people, we have the biggest family there. Most of them are a 2-3 child family.
Anyway yesterday was a progressive dinner for the all the Awana clubs in the church. Most kids had never been to one and thought that it was so cool. They served carrot sticks and celery with ranch dressing and nachos for appetizers. Then chicken or chopped steak with green beans, corn, and mashed potatoes for the entree. Dessert was brownies and cupcakes in a cone. Plus lots of red punch. Except for the punch it was all very tasty.
But there was a LOT leftover. One of our good friends suggested that I tell them that I would take all the leftovers because it would just get thrown out. I thought at least one other family would want it, but everyone said their kids wouldn't eat the veggies so they didn't want it.
I guess that is one of advantage of having a large family. Our kids aren't very picky at all because they get what they get and we don't short order cook for them. So the lady in charge actually came over to me and asked me if I wanted to take all the leftovers home. I jumped on it of course. So I came home with grilled chicken in a yummy sauce (enough for 2 meals), a HUGE bag of bread sticks, 2 gallons of red punch, a entire can (like from Sam's) of green beans, a foil pan full of mashed potatoes, and a big pan of brownies and cupcake cones.
It is enough for at least 2 meals and then some for the zookeeper's lunch. It was so nice of them to already be thinking of us. What a blessing!

Garage Sales Again
I told you that I have this slight addiction to them. Actually I haven't been to any since the first of September. That is a LONG time for me.
But there were several neighborhood garage sales going on and I thought that I might find a few baby things that I needed. The first 2 were extremely disappointing, but the third proved good for a few things.
But on our way back home and then in our neighboring area we hit a few that were really good. I found several outfits for my niece, a booster seat with a tray that attaches to a chair, lots of cloth diapers, a baby feeder for small pieces of fruit, etc so a new eater won't choke, some baby towels, and a few flannel blankets to make into wipes. Lioness also scored some Hollister jeans that she was thrilled with and I got a nice Tommy Hilfiger jacket for Monkey. I also got some nice hiking boots for Lion Cub.
In all I only spent about $12 and got lots of things that I needed. I really was hoping to find a BIG sturdy dining room table, but alas that didn't happen.

My husband rocks
I completely forgot today was Friday. So here I am a little later than usual but with another reason why My Husband Rocks.
He is coming down with a cold and was really feeling miserable yesterday. However Thursdays is Brown Bear's night to stay up later. I had told him that I was going to take Brown Bear to Hobby Lobby to get the required paints for his new model, that he received for his birthday. BB has been dying to get started on this, but really needed the paints first in order to do it right. Hobby Lobby had a 40% off coupon available to print off and it was just what he needed.
Anyway I could tell that the zookeeper was really getting tired when I had talked to him on the phone. So I mentioned this to BB while we were shopping (after soccer practice). But when we got home zookeeper helped get everyone in bed and then was completely ready and willing to get out the model and try to help BB start painting the pieces.
I was so totally impressed by this. He knew how much it meant to BB and he was willing to stay up and work on it, no matter how bad he felt. What a great dad!!
As it turns out we ended up watching clips from Jay Leno's garage because the zookeeper could lay on the couch and see the clips of all the cool cars that Jay owns.
That is why the zookeeper rocks today!!

BIG BABY!!
Today I discovered that I am a BIG baby. I can have kids naturally but hyperventilate at the thought of going to the dentist.
First off I waited over an hour to be seen. That just gave me more time to contemplate the fact that I should just walk out the door and never look back. But like a good girl I stayed in my chair until they finally called my name.
Then she put me in the chair, put some topical stuff on my gums and left the room. Meanwhile my tongue feels like it is swelling to about 3 times it's normal size. And I all I can do is stare at the TV screen above me and watch the Mister Men people things go to an amusement park.
Finally they come back in, shove this block in my mouth, tell me to take breathes and breath out my nose. As I am wondering why I need to do this, they shove their hands in my move and I feel this awful pain. Breathing out of my nose isn't working people. I can't breathe period. Finally they are done. And then announce they will be right back again.
Wait where are they going? Are they giving me time to die with dignity? Help me someone!!
Then a strange thing starts happening. I can' feel my teeth, then my gums, and everything in my mouth must be swollen to 10 times it's normal size. I cant get my tongue to work to swallow. I am convince that I can't talk either because my tongue just doesn't want to work. Then horrors I discover that I am drooling. No wonder they put 5 bibs on me.
Well in they waltz again, politely asking if I am fine. I nod my head, because I am certain I will never speak again. In goes that enormous block and then lots of water. LOTS of water. I am drowning and I can't breathe and they are saying something about raising my left hand if I am in pain and not to be a hero. I can't even remember which is my left hand so I raised both and started beating them off of me.
Well actually that is what I did in my head. I was trying to remember how to swallow. I had to concentrate on Tom and Jerry and pray that I didn't pass out. Then they sat me up, gave me a "breather" (their term not mine), and proceeded to do the other side. Then I finally gave into the panic, choked on the water, and shoved their hands aside and sat up and coughed water all over the place. It was so very humiliating. The whole time they are telling me that I am doing fine. HAHAHA!! My 12 yo has done this 3 times and never freaked out. But then came the little secret. That is why they give kids and most adults the gas. It is so they won't panic. I, of course can't have it and would have refused it anyway. She said I did as well as could be expected. I thought I did great, considering that I really wanted to punch the living daylights out of them and run screaming from the room.
It took about 3 hours for all the feeling to return to my face and mouth. Even my cheeks were numb. Now my mouth feels like they had hands the size of giants in there. It aches pretty bad. Give me natural childbirth anytime.!
Tuesday Fun
Yesterday we went to this lady's house out in the country and had a blast. The kids didn't want to leave. We got out there around 10:30 and didn't leave until about 4:45.
Her dad had the 4-wheelers all gassed up and ready to go. There was even a Ranger that could seat a lot. Which the little girls and Lion Cub loved. He would go out there and buckle in and just wait for someone to take him for another ride. I think he spent most of his time on that.
The big girls liked the big 4-wheeler and a teeny-tiny pick-up. Sorta like a clown car. There were paths cut all over the property so they could safely drive on them. The boys also brought their bb gun's and had target practice. Brown Bear had been looking forward to this so he could use his bb pistol that he had gotten for his birthday.
We were able to just sit around and relax and it was something that I needed ever so much. No school and no house that could convict me to get working. She even provided lunch and that was so awesome. One thing, if you ever go to see her, she made these wonderful cookies and then left them sitting on the kitchen counter. She didn't even try to hide them. For the first time since I started the diabetic diet again, I pigged out. I probably had about 10. But I dearly paid for it. My body went into sugar shock (I think) and I had to be tested for dehydration when I went to the dr. this morning. My body to tried cleanse its self of the sugar overload. But they were SO GOOD!! I will be getting the recipe AFTER this baby is born. Or maybe I can talk her into bringing me a whole pan just for me (after the baby is born or better yet in the hospital!)
Thanks for inviting us! We had an awesome time!
