Day 2 Advent Calendar

I found a really cool Advent Calendar at a blog that I read on a regular basis. Go check it out. It is similar to ours in content, but not design. While you are there you should read about her sweet boy Jonah and her amazing faith in the Lord!

So on to day 2 of our Advent series. This one was hug each of your family members for at least 10 seconds. The reason there is a time is for our child who doesn't like hugging. I know lots of people think that this kind of thing should be forced, but I disagree. This child will only hug Koala and only her. It has hurt the feelings of several of the other ones as they tried to love on this child and that child pushed them away.

I was a little concerned that child would really make a scene but they didn't and actually enjoyed it and left the hug fest with a smile on their face. Everyone's spirit was buoyed up and moods were lighter for the rest of the morning. Grandma particularly benefited from this. She loved all the kids hugging her and I think it reminded them she needs that affection and love as much as everyone else, even when she can't remember who they are.

The name for today is Wonderful Counselor. This opened up quite a discussion on what exactly a counselor is and how earthly counselors can give us bad advice, while God's is always right on the mark. We also talked about how sometimes the paths He wants us to take don't seem right and sometimes things seem very difficult, but in the end are ALWAYS and without exception the right thing for us. One child also mentioned that we should always talk with Him BEFORE
