Day 3 and 4 Advent Calendar

Day 3 was babysitting for someone so they can go Christmas shopping or have a date night with their spouse. We have the couple lined up but now we just gotta get a night picked.

The name for the day was Mighty God. We discussed the meaning of mighty and earthly examples of that i.e. weightlifters.

Day 4 was spending time praying for people that we don't always think of. This was really nice because the Zookeeper was actually home so we could do it as a family. Our friend's dad had a massive heart attack over Thanksgiving and isn't doing very good. Several of the kids and ZK spent time praying for him. We were all reminded that there is so much suffering around us and being on our knees in prayer for them keeps us less focused on our whining.

The name for the day was Everlasting Father. One child pointed out that this meant that God would be even better than their earthly dad and it didn't get much better than that. He wouldn't die or otherwise abandon them like humans have been known to do.

This has been such a bonding time for our family that I considering doing something for each month of the year and maybe have different themes for each month. Maybe acts of love for february, prayer warriors for another month. What do you think? Do you do some kind of Advent calendar with your family?
