Family Fun #3

This week was based on one of our favorite Christmas movies, Polar Express. When it first came out some friends invited us to go see it with them at the movie theatre. ZK wasn't too crazy about the idea because he doesn't rank animated movies to high on his list of ones to see. But once he watched it, he declared it a family must-have. Sadly it was stolen when we were robbed 2 years ago. Koala had never seen it so we knew this was on our list this year.

Again we choose the food before any of the other things. I knew we would be coming home to do this after a soccer game so I didn't really want to make a full meal or even lots of appetizers. Monkey and I chose to stick with just a hot cocoa bar and popcorn.

ZK picked up the marshmallows for us and was able to get 3 kinds, which added to the festiveness of the bar. Monkey put them in different height wine glasses. (this is a trick I learned from my sweet catering boss who screams height, height, height at us all the time. ok I teasing on the screaming part!) We also put candy corn in one and then finished off the choices with chocolate dipped candy canes.

Of course nothing ever goes quite as planned, so when I started the hot cocoa I found out we didn't have any cocoa powder. umm..whoops! Thankfully we happened to have some chocolate syrup in the frig and a couple of packets of hot cocoa mix that we dumped in too. It tasted pretty yummy and so we just went with that.

Lioness printed off some tickets from the movie for each of us. ZK bought us each a santa hat also. Koala loved the movie. I may or may not have fallen asleep at the end of the movie.
